The Grape Creek Middle School Outdoor Education class competed in the Virtual NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) Competition for the first time in January advancing a team of 12 students and two alternates to the state competition. Students competed in both the State IBO 3D Challenge and State Tournament (10M/15M), where they ranked 17^th and 43^rd as a team, respectively.

Marshall Duncan (6th Grade) scored the highest from the school in the State IBO 3D Challenge, ranking 169^th, out of 506 boys, 55^th out of 180 from the middle school division, and 13^th from among sixth graders.  He scored the second highest for Grape Creek in the State NASP 10/15-Meter State Tournament Competition, ranking 717^th out of 1,651 boys, 618^th middle school division boys, and 47^th out of 173 from the sixth grade.  Duncan also scored the highest from the school in the 10/15 Meter area competition, ranking 889^th out of 1,815 boys, 338^th among 656 in the middle school division, and 67^th out of 183 sixth graders.

Tony Escobar, a seventh-grader, scored the 2^nd highest score for the school in the State IBO Challenge, ranking 268^th out of 506 boys, 95^th out of 180 middle school division boys, and 33^rd out of 70 seventh graders in the competition.

Both Duncan and Escobar will be competing in the IBO 3D Challenge category in the NASP Western Archery national competition slated for April 30 in Sandy, Utah. 

In addition to these wins, Konner Linebarger, seventh grade, scored the highest for the school in the 10/15-Meter State Tournament Competition, ranking 660^th out of 1,651 boys, 240^th out of 618 middle school boys, and 97^th out of 241 boys from seventh grade.

Other Grape Creek Middle School students competing included, Kaden Murphy, sixth grade; Daniel Campos, Lilliane Davis, Evan Andrade, Sean Burke, Rhyanna Adame, and Dakota Garner, all seventh grade; and Kylianne Womack, Wyatt Smith, Jacob Plaia, and Annabel Linebarger, all eighth grade.

“All students were very successful in both archery competitions,” said Ray Lopez, Grape Creek’s outdoor education teacher and archery sponsor, “I'm very proud of the hard work my students have put into this program and I'm excited to see the future of this program as we continue to move forward."
